Part of Spiney's one-man campaign for Ultimate High to have more Navy pilots than RAF pilots, Dave first flew courtesy of a Royal Navy Flying Scholarship and with ULAS when he wasn't working hard on his Aeronautical Engineering degree. He flew a variety of helicopters from Aircraft Carriers including HMS Invincible, FS Clemenceau and the USS Independence; he found the latter the easiest to land on. Dave also flew RN fixed wing aircraft and is qualified on over 30 different types of aircraft, including the Hawk, Tiger Moth, and Harvard.
He has been a commercial pilot since 1988 and currently flies the Airbus A340 for Virgin out of Heathrow. Dave is no relation whatsoever of Ultimate High boss Mark, although that doesn't mean that he is anything other than a lovely chap...
