Nick is a highly accomplished competition aerobatic pilot; he won the British Advanced Aerobatic Championships in 1992 and was a member of the British Team at the Advanced World Aerobatic Championships in 1999 and 2000, and the Unlimited European Championships in 2002.
He started flying at the age of 17 when he was awarded an RAF Flying Scholarship, and while he was at Cambridge studying Engineering, he spent 3 years with the University Air Squadron flying Bulldogs; it was there that he acquired his taste for aerobatics. In 1983 he joined British Airways as a software engineer, latterly working on the airline's fleet of Flight Simulators.
Nick entered his first British Aerobatic Association competition in 1989 flying the CAP 10B, before moving onto a variety of types including the Pitts S1S, Sukhoi SU26 and CAP232. In 1995 he joined Brian Lecomber's Firebird Aerobatics team and spent 4 years flying the Pitts S2B and Extra 300L in solo displays throughout the UK.
Nick continues to fly competitions in his Pitts S1T G-WILD.
