This is your opportunity to be an Air Race Pilot, Red Bull style! We'll take complete beginners and teach them how to fly at high speed through a series of simulated gates. Will YOU win?
An outline of our unique Air Racing Days can be found below. Ultimate High is the only company to offer this experience in Europe so it is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity. The day is available for up to 8 guests.
After a thorough briefing and a practise flight where you learn to fly the cutting edge Extra300 raceplane and fly tight corners, you will prepare for the big race itself. To begin you dive down to low level at speeds in excess of 200mph, select 'smoke on' and storm across the start. You will then need to pass through a series of simulated gates at high speed either with your wings exactly level or at 90 degrees - in 'knife-edge' flight!
No matter what your previous experience, YOU will fly the aeroplane, with an experienced aerobatic instructor in the aeroplane to make sure that it is safe. Your Air Race time is entirely dependent upon how accurately you fly the aeroplane, and how much 'g' you can stand as you pull through the turns!
The race is flown at a safe height over the airfield with the instructor calling out the turns based on physical features on the ground; gates or pylons are simulated to ensure safety. All instructors are former military pilots with substantial aerobatic instructional experience, and many are officially approved display pilots in their own right. All flights are carried out with the UK's leading Advanced Flight Safety training organisation, Ultimate High.
We are renowned for our friendly but professional pilots and ground staff. Guests are encouraged to spend plenty of time with our staff learning more about flying.
Additional Ground Activities are not recommended for this day. For most guests, it is a totally new (and amazing!) experience. We find that the uniqueness of the event makes this very much a shared experience, with guests yet to fly eager to quiz those who have flown, to compare notes and swap stories.
