Variable Pitch (VP) Differences Training in the Bulldog |
All serious piston-engined propeller-driven aeroplanes have a Variable Pitch (VP) propeller that allows optimised propeller blade angle of attack for both climbing and cruising as well as reducing the pilot's workload through aerobatic manoeuvres.
A pilot flying a fixed pitch propeller aircraft over the top of a loop will need to reduce the throttle in order to prevent the engine from over-revving, whereas a VP prop has a constant speed unit that effectively manages the propeller angle of attack, engine RPM and air speed relationship for the pilot.
The theory and practice behind VP propellers is actually quite straightforward. Our VP Differences Training will qualify you to fly such aircraft following a detailed brief and flying demonstration and practice of the real world principles involved.
The training takes place over 1-2 flights in the Bulldog, charged at our hourly rate.
