Top Gun! Voted the UK’s number one high adrenaline experience over and over again, this is a unique and unforgettable adventure for your group!

Ultimate High is the only company in Europe to offer the Top Gun experience in ex-military aircraft.  It is the opportunity of a lifetime for your guests to become “Top Gun” pilots for the day, and go head to head with their opponent.

First, you are kitted out into flying suits and Top Gun name badges and receive a detailed flying and safety brief. Then you are matched into pairs or threes.

Once in the aircraft, your ex-military instructors will demonstrate a formation take-off and close formation manoeuvering before teaching you how to fly aerobatics – yourself!

Next, after you have flown some aerobatic manoeuvres to acclimatise you to the g-force, you will be introduced to tailchasing and air combat against your opponent – the sport of kings!

Your guests will be amazed at how much they are able to take the controls themselves during this experience.

combat mission

Flights take place in pairs or threes, so 2-3 guests are airborne at any one time (in 2 separate aircraft). The ideal group size is 8-16 guests. For groups smaller than this (4-6 guests) why not try our full-on Air Combat Programme?

For groups larger than this (17-30 people) some guests will need to fly our aerobatics profile instead (ie their flight won’t include tailchasing/air combat).  In this case 4 guests can be airborne at any one time using 4 aircraft.

The uniqueness of the event makes this very much a shared experience, with guests yet to fly eager to quiz those who have flown, to compare notes and swap stories.  Clients find the flying all-consuming as this is a totally new (and amazing!) experience.

We are renowned for our friendly but professional pilots and ground staff and guests are encouraged to spend plenty of time with our staff learning more about flying.

Arrival

The day normally starts at 8.45am, unless a very large group.

On arrival, guests have welcome refreshments/breakfast

Guests are then kitted out into high quality flying suits and “Top Gun” name badges.

Sit down for an informative and entertaining pre-flight and safety brief by one of our senior flying instructors, including how to fly aerobatic and air combat manoeuvres.

Guests are matched into pairs or threes.

Top Gun Flights

The flying commences following safety/parachute briefs at the aircraft.

Waves of guests fly “Top Gun” pairs, with 2 or 3 guests airborne at any one time.  Option to purchase videos of the flights.

Flight includes:

  • Formation take-off (2 or 3 aircraft)
  • Formation close manoeuvrering in the climb
  • Learn effects of aircraft controls and aerobatics manoeuvres
  • Time for air combat against your opponent – shoot the bad guy!
  • Return to Base – fighter pilot rejoin to land

Each “flight” takes around 1 hour including kit out, safety brief, aircraft taxy etc and the flight itself.

Non-flying activities included

While guests aren’t flying, we can conduct tours of the Aircraft Hangars (including Spitfire hangar, if available).

There is usually plenty going on at the airfield for people to watch – eg the motor circuit is busy with fast cars and the Spitfire is usually flying.

There is also a lovely cafe next to our building where guests can watch the flying.
